Another successful telemetry fieldtrip to Sodwana Bay was conducted by ORI scientists in early December 2017. The aim of the trip was to download movement data from the listening stations in the Northern Reef Complex, deploy new receivers at the border of the Red Sands sanctuary and tag more fish with acoustic transmitters. A total of 17 fish were tagged; 7 green jobfish, 4 potato bass and 6 bluefin kingfish. The movement patterns of these fish will be monitored for the next 10 years using the acoustic listening stations that have been deployed at strategic locations from Rabbit Rock down to Leven Point.
