Octopus eggs hatch at uShaka Sea World

By: Ann Kunz

Yesterday we were fortunate to have spent some time with Billi-Jean Parker of Ocean Planet Media in the aquarium. She was very excited when we told her that some of the eggs laid by resident female octopus had hatched.
She filmed mom on exhibit in the aquarium aerating the eggs which had not as yet hatched before going to our quarantine facility to film some of newly hatched octopuses. The tiny octopuses will spend some time in the hospital under the watchful eyes of the aquarists until they reach a more robust size.
Well done and thank you Billi-Jean for sharing your video with us.
