SAAMBR’s conservation strategist, Dr Judy Mann, together with Dr Kerry Sink, produced the video MzanSea which won two prizes at the ART&TUR festival in Portugal. 1st place in Tourism Destinations and 1st place in Social Responsibility.
The fact that this film has received these awards means so much to SAAMBR. We worked hard to capture not only the beauty of life in our MPAs, but also what they mean to people. The video is a celebration of South Africa’s amazing heritage. These awards acknowledge the skills of the Director Otto Whitehead and his amazing filming.
The fact that the film has now won numerous awards internationally means that hundreds of people have seen the film and learnt a little more about South Africa’s incredible marine biodiversity. Hopefully this will encourage more support for our MPAs.
