The SAAMBR Education team was very excited to host a group of 16 Grade 10 Marine Science students on Saturday the 7th of August.
These students who were coordinated by the Marine Science node coordinator for KZN, Dr Gary Robson, came from five different schools. The bespoke course focused on oceanography, marine ecology, classification and human impacts on the ocean.
The students agreed that the course was most informative and that one of the most interesting sections of the course was learning about the negative impacts of pollution and overharvesting.
The tour through the aquarium really brought the course to life and one student commented that the most enjoyable part of the course was the crab dissection.
We hope that these courses build on the students classroom based learning and that were are able to inspire future marine conservationists.
