The monitor brought in to Dangerous Creatures by Nick Evans appears to be responding well to treatment.
Earlier this week, a Durban resident called on local herpetologist Nick Evans for assistance after his dog bit the beautiful Nile Monitor.  It was clear that the monitor needed medical attention as the puncture wounds inflicted by the dog were clearly visible.
He has responded well to treatment and is currently full of strength and energy.  If all goes well we are hoping that he will be released in the next few days.
Nile monitors are nationally protected species and are found in freshwater habitats throughout KZN as well as other parts of the county.  They are often seen basking in the sun on the edge of rivers and estuaries
