Over the past ten days Herbie has had quite the adventure traveling down and up the KZN coast. She made her way just south of Richards Bay before she decided to head back north into the safety of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. She is currently roughly 20 km north of St Lucia. Herbie has traveled approximately 88 km during this time, remaining inshore and foraging on the reefs in the area. At this time of year no turtles are nesting on KZN beaches and the loggerhead turtles will be making their way back to their foraging grounds. Herbie’s track as expected, shows her moving along the coast from reef to reef, and as the reefs decrease, you can see she made her way back into the Marine Protected Area (MPA).
